The Hankla Award
Endowed since 2014, the Robert H. Hankla award provides support to outstanding senior-level undergraduate students majoring in Physics. It was created to honor Dr. Hankla, who was an Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy for 30 years at GSU, serving for 10 years as Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Hankla passed away in 1995 while teaching a physics class. The current list of awardees is:

The Raghavan Astronomy Student Fellowship
The Raghavan Astronomy Student Fellowship provides salary support for two undergraduate research assistants in astronomy each summer. Applicants indicating an interest in astronomy will automatically be considered for this named fellowship, which will support two research assistants for the summer. Awardees will be selected on the basis of their grades, experience, accomplishments, potential, interests, and match with astronomy faculty members. At the end of the summer semester, the awardees will present their results along with the other summer research assistants and provide a written summary of their accomplishments and future plans.
