Physics and Astronomy Assistant Professor Dr. Yang-Ting Chien has been awarded one of the prestigious “Early Career Research” grants from the US Department of Energy (DOE). This grant program is designed to bolster the nation’s scientific workforce by providing support to exceptional researchers during crucial early career years. Dr. Chien joined GSU in Summer 2021, as the newest member of our Department’s Nuclear Physics group. His grant-awarded research program is entitled: “Probing Quark Matter and Hadronization Using Energy Flow Substructure”. The 5-year, $750,000 grant will support Dr. Chien’s theoretical research on the internal structure of the proton and neutron, known as “quark matter”, a topic of current high interest in nuclear physics.
