Ilija Medan, a student in the Astronomy PhD program, was awarded a travel scholarship to attend the “La Serena School of Data Science 2019: Applied Tools for Data-driven Sciences” organized by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), and sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This summer intensive program will be held August 19-28 at the AURA campus in La Serena, Chile. The school is an intensive week of interdisciplinary lectures focused on applied tools for handling big astronomical data, and taught by an international and interdisciplinary group of professors. Ilija Medan is currently being advised by Prof. Sebastien Lepine.
